On June 26, the 4th China (Jiangsu) New Energy + Hydrogen Storage Co-integration Industry Development Conference, hosted by the Jiangsu Renewable Energy Industry Association, was grandly held in Nanjing. The conference focused on cutting-edge topics such as the innovation path of energy storage technology and the application of new energy scenarios, and brought together industry experts, corporate leaders and representatives of scientific research institutions to explore the new ecology of industrial collaborative development.

Xie Lei, chief engineer of Golen Power, delivered a keynote speech entitled "Analysis of the Application of Grid-Based Energy Storage Technology in Microgrids", elaborating on the core advantages, key features and innovative solutions of grid-based energy storage technology, and describing the broad application prospects of grid-based microgrid technology from multiple perspectives, including scenario requirements, application models, and typical cases.

01. Grid-connected energy storage technology: Core support for stable operation of microgrids

"Grid-based energy storage technology is like a 'stabilizer' for microgrids," Xie Lei said figuratively, "It not only provides flexible power regulation and power quality control, but also acts as the main power source when the microgrid is operating in an isolated island, ensuring continuous power supply to key loads."

 

In the speech, it was mentioned that Golen Power's grid-based PCS has millisecond-level black start capability and microsecond-level power response time. At the same time, it uses advanced virtual synchronous machine control technology to suppress microgrid frequency fluctuations within ±0.1Hz, significantly improving the stability and reliability of the microgrid.


02. Microgrid development faces important opportunities: Networking technology is key

The current development of microgrids is mainly driven by four factors: optimization of energy storage regulation cost efficiency, large-scale development of distributed energy, maturity of grid-type voltage source technology, and guidance of the "dual carbon" strategic goal.

 

Xie Lei emphasized that microgrids are oriented to the construction needs of new power systems that are "clean and low-carbon, economical and efficient, coordinated in supply and demand, flexible and intelligent", and have irreplaceable advantages in scenarios such as regional grid autonomy, non-grid areas and weak grids.

 

However, the development of microgrids also faces many challenges, such as the difficulty of energy storage system integration, high cost investment, and the need to improve the maturity of technology. The continuous maturity and large-scale application of grid-type energy storage technology provide a feasible path to solve these challenges.


03. Golen Power's innovative solutions: Helping microgrids operate efficiently and stably

As a professional enterprise in the field of energy storage, Golen Power has launched a series of innovative solutions for microgrid application needs.

 

Golen Power has independently developed a variety of specifications of grid-type (photovoltaic) energy storage inverters, outdoor cabinet microgrid systems, containerized microgrid systems and large microgrid systems. Among them, the 135kW modular energy storage inverter and the 241kWh liquid-cooled outdoor cabinet energy storage system have become the focus. The former adopts a modular design and supports flexible expansion; the latter adopts liquid cooling technology to achieve ±2℃ temperature difference control and can operate stably in a wide temperature environment of -25℃~55℃.

 

The microgrid energy storage system adopts an integrated design, supports photovoltaic and diesel access, and has the characteristics of convenient installation and flexible deployment; the microgrid energy management platform can monitor and optimize the distributed power supply, energy storage system, load, etc. in the microgrid in real time to ensure the safe and stable operation of the microgrid.


04. Actual cases prove its strength: Grid-based energy storage applications have achieved remarkable results

Tibet Photovoltaic-Energy Storage-Diesel Microgrid Project: This project is located in the high-altitude area of Tibet (4600m), and has built a "500kWp photovoltaic + 1.5MW/8.4MWh energy storage" photovoltaic-energy storage-dies off-grid energy storage system. The special environmental needs of high-cold and high-altitude areas were fully considered during the design of the scheme. After the project was put into operation, it effectively solved the problems of power supply and winter heating for local residents.

 

Guinea 15MW/30MWh Microgrid Project: This project is located in Guinea, Africa. It is a large off-grid microgrid project, using 10kV networking, including 10MWp photovoltaic, 15MW/30MWh energy storage system, etc. The energy storage system uses three sets of 5MW/10MWh energy storage units. Each unit consists of two sets of 20-foot 5MWh lithium iron phosphate battery systems and one set of 5MW inverter and booster. PCS uses grid-building technology to build the main power supply of the microgrid, replacing the original diesel power supply with a "photovoltaic + energy storage" microgrid. After the project is put into operation, it will effectively reduce the electricity costs of local enterprises and reduce pollution to the environment.

At the awards ceremony of the conference dinner, Golen Power's "Research and Development of Key Technologies and Core Equipment for Grid-Connected Microgrid Systems" project won the "Jiangsu Province Renewable Energy Science and Technology Progress Award" for its outstanding performance in technological innovation and industrial application. It was recognized by industry authorities and became a highly anticipated technological breakthrough that night.
